A bit about me.

I'm from London, but live in Scotland with my wife and son. For years I worked with kids as both a nanny and a children’s entertainer (nothing matches the pressure of the London under-5s party scene). In 2008 I graduated with a Masters in Feature Film Screenwriting, and built a career writing stories for everything from film and TV to immersive theatre, educational apps and online articles.

I broke into kids TV in 2016, and haven't looked back since.

What's it like to work with me?

We've hired James to develop existing IP as well as to write bibles and scripts. He's a delight to work with, with boundless enthusiasm, collaborative spirit and originality. If only all development was this easy and fun!

SVP Creative Executive, Animation & Family, Europe – Gaumont

Working with James is a pleasure. His writing is top-notch and his enthusiasm, sense of humour and grip on character and story were invaluable in our writers room!

Ryan Denham

Creative Producer – WildBrain

James is integral to the Hey Duggee team. Not only is he great on all the practical stuff, being flexible and hard-working and efficient, but he always pushes ideas beyond the obvious route so that his work feels fresh and fun. He's imaginative, creative and very funny...we love working with him.

Jenny Landreth

Head Writer – Hey Duggee! (Studio AKA/CBeebies)

James took our project to the next level! He's a great collaborator who instantly "got" what we were trying to do, and elevated our stories and our pitch ready for Cartoon Forum. We're so happy we found him and can't wait to carry on working together.
